Cake stands aren't just for birthdays--they can dress up all kinds of sweet and savory treats. Cake stands are back in style, and they come in every size, shape and color imaginable. Thank you Martha Stewart for bringing cake stands to the art of table decorating! As shown below, the decorating guru, suggests using cake stands and tiers of cake stands for everything from harvest parties, weddings, holding candles, showcasing flowers and stacking them as centerpieces.
( l to r: Put fine china on display without a breakfront or hutch. You can keep dishware on a dining-room side table, protected from dust and mischievous cats, on covered cake stands and under bell jars and cloches; arrange a group of colorful noisemakers on top of a cake stand).
( l to r: gather clear apothecary bottles and fill them with lamp oil and wicks. Arrange the bottles under a large hurricane for protection and sit them on a sturdy glass cake stand; the candles are elevated on cake stands ringed with trim and grosgrain ribbon).
(l to r: Enliven your next buffet with an arrangement of eggcup bouquets displayed on cake stands; New Martha Stewart Collection Whiteware cakestands 8", $14.99, 10'", $19.99, 13", $29.99, Exclusively at Macy*s).
(l to r: Mille Nuits cake serveware, Baccarat, $1,325.00; Wisteria Cake Stand, William Yeoward, $225.00, Soho Cakestand; Miller Rogaska, $85.00; Vibration small footed plate, Lalique, $895.00; Limelight cake plate, Kosta Boda, $100.00; Wisteria Cake Stand Dome, William Yeoward, $150.00; Bloomingdale's).
( l to r: Jadeite cake stand, $74.95, Fishs Eddy; Cake stand with glass dome; stand, $98.00 dome, $212.00, Juliska).
(l to r: Pearled cake stand, $138.00, Mariposa; Arte Italica cake stand,$185.00, Neiman Marcus).
(l to r: Lauren pavillion footed cake plate, $29.99, Ralph Lauren; Vietri cake stand lace $171.00, Michael C Fina).
(l to r: Calvin Klein, Geometry cake stand $110.00, Bloomingdale's; Cake stand, $14.95 Crate and Barrel).
Bake the cake or fake the cake. Either way these "cake stands" take the cake.

Very useful. I was looking for a cake stand compilation.
I do love a cake stand! I have collected quite a few old diner stands, and use them all of the time!
A couple of cake stands will definitely be on my registry. Can you believe I don't have one! I love the Juliska and the Vietri and I know both of them will be on the list!
Thanks for dropping a line Kim and Katie!
Gorgeous! I'll take the cake plate and the cake in pic # 2 :) Great post!
