Can this card be turned into a room? Fabulous stationery contest

Any one who knows me, knows that I love tableware. When I got engaged, the first question many of my friends asked, was not, "When's the date?" Oh no, many of my friends asked, "What tableware are you registering for?" Well, I don't know about that one yet. There is, however, one thing I do know. I know that registering for tableware and finding the right stationery are the things that will take the longest to decide upon. Yes, I love stationery almost as much as I love tableware.

I was thrilled when I learned that my friend, Holly, over at Decor8 is featuring a stationery contest and the only thing you have to do is use one card from Fabulous Stationery as inspiration and locate 3 rooms that relate to the card design somehow. How fun is that! Yesterday, I turned a room into a tablesetting and today I'm using a card as inspiration for a room.

My inspiration/mood board is located above. The card I chose was “dandelion” green. The dandelion flower means happiness and happiness to mean means “color”. The crisp green and aqua blue color combinations in these rooms are used in a bright, cheery and retro way.

I chose a flower because my mother is a devoted gardener and for its association with nature. Blue and green are colors taken directly from nature; think blue skies and green grass. Nature inspires the most creative combination of color. Right now, the nature trend is coming on strong and can be interpreted in various ways. These rooms are not only refreshing but there’s an added level of sophistication.

4 winners will be awarded with a $50 gift certificate and a huge tote bag designed by Trish Demasi, who designs all of their cards. Her cards are fabulous. The entry deadline is Wednesday, August 8th. Midnight EST. so visit Decor8 and submit your entry.

Yes, we creative types find inspiration from everyplace. Tune into tomorrow, I'm taking this blue and green color combination to the registry!

Please stop me?!?!? I can't help myself...With a tremendous amount of self-control, I limited my entry to just 1 mood board. It was such a fun project and Yes, perfect for me.

Anne, I checked out your entry inspired by the card "Afrique" and it was great. I love the rich, bold color combo.

Good Luck!

Can you tell me where the photo of the lime room with the blue and lime dots came from? so cute.

Hi Stephanie, the photo of the lime room with the blue and lime dots came from Larson Juhl's advertising campaign that appeared in the April 2006 edition of House Beautiful magazine. Isn't that room great. Who would have thought that lime walls could look so good! Larson-Juhl,designs, manufactures and distributes fine custom frames and I think this ad showcases their frames beautifully. Thanks for inquiring. - Sarah
