Putting your best Vase forward

We all like to look good when getting dress to go to a party. Well, setting the table is alot like dressing for a party:

1. Dress the table with cloth and complimentary china in matching or contrasting colors. 2. Add napkins as you would a belt or scarf, 3. accessorize with the jewelry – shiny flatware, napkin rings, candles, and place cards or favors.

Last but certaintly not least, top it off with the centerpiece - - - with an outfit it could be a fabulous hat or a stunning pin. With a table, your centerpiece is your vase.

A vase is a twice-blessed design statement. Choose one carefully and you have a piece of sculpture, when it's not full of beautiful flowers. Assemble a few beautiful vases together and you have a centerpiece for your room. Either of these vases would make a stunning centerpiece.

"Hip-hip Horray"! This month's issue of House Beautiful is fantastic and the 101 vase story makes me wanna set my table for a party!!! Cheers.

How strange - something spooky going on here. Yesterday I had to throw away a favourite glass vase as it broke and I was thinking its so hard to find a great looking vase. What makes a great vase to me is one that will not fall over when you put flowers in them too! So many these days are really not weighted enough. I had fun looking at the vase range let me tell you!

Courtney, I couldn't agree more, this issue was great. I don't even know where to begin. I could totally see any one of these amazing vases on my table, nightstand, desk, apart of my vase collection or given as a wonderful gift.

I'm glad you enjoyed the post. Thanks for stopping by ladies.

Great post. I am not a frequent reader of House Beautiful magazine but I absolutely will be looking to pick up this issue now. I'll also be looking to pick up some of these amazing pieces.

Another great post, Sarah--so many beautiful things to look at and practical, too, since I'm always looking for vases for my fresh flowers. I also checked out the cheese knife set at Anthropologie, but am still holding out for a flatware set like your Ralph Lauren. Also checked out the mother-of-pearl flatware set at Pottery Barn from one of your earlier posts and I'm seriously considering it--thanks for the tip!
